Just over nine years ago, Miley was still a 13-year-old moonlighting as international superstar Hannah Montana, and she was snapped poking her tongue out to the side while performing in San Jose.

While Miley made her first foray in 2006, her tongue didn't see the light of day again until April 9, 2008, just before the "I Can't Be Tamed" fun really began.

In 2013, Miley finally revealed the reason she always sticks out her tongue in an interview with Barbara Walters.

"I get embarrassed to take pictures," she said. "I don't know what else to do in front of the cameras."
