Amazon Moves Into 'Gig' Economy With Flex

There's a new way to make a living: Deliver Amazon packages.
The e-commerce giant launched a service called Amazon Flex, where you can sign up and get paid between $18 and $25 per hour for fulfilling deliveries across your town. According to the site, the users can chose their own hours from shifts of two, four, eight or 12 hours. All you need to be an Amazon delivery person is your own car and a smartphone. Currently the company does not offer options to deliver by bike or foot, but it could be a possibility in the future.

According to Amazon, Flex allows users to earn extra money on their own schedule, mirroring other shared economy services such as Uber. The service is currently available in Seattle, but it will soon launch in other areas and cities such as Manhattan, Chicago, Baltimore, Miami, Dallas, Austin, Indianapolis, Atlanta and Portland.
