Student Says He's Not Allowed To Bring Same-Sex Date To Dance

Lance Sanderson missed out on his last homecoming dance this past weekend after he was prohibited from bringing a male student from other school as his date.

Sanderson, an openly gay senior at Christian Brothers High School in Tennessee, was denied the request to bring a male student from another school to the homecoming dance.

When Sanderson asked why he couldn't bring his date, administrators pointed to the student handbook, stating: "CBHS students may attend the dance by themselves, with other CBHS students, or with a girl from another school. For logistical reasons, boys from other schools may not attend."

Judging from Sanderson's Twitter page, it looks like he missed out on the homecoming dance. But, just because the dance has passed, doesn't mean Sanderson is backing down. His Change.org petition is still live and has garnered 23,728 signatures as of Monday afternoon. Go Lance!
