While the debate on legalization continues in the United States, some home growers are not waiting for a law to let them profess their green-thumb "hobby" and just plant weed wherever they find the right spot. This is what the police were surprised to find in South London, where a football field-sized forest of weed had been planted in an open space, hidden from the surrounding vegetation.

The police announced their discovery on Twitter and showed photos of the five-foot-tall plants. According to PC Sarah Henderson in her interview with The Guardian, the plants looked like a small forest of Christmas trees and was complete with a gazebo. She also added:

"Whoever set this up used a really remote spot. The only way to get there was a 20-minute walk through wasteland. But all their time, trouble and gardening skills will go unrewarded, as the whole lot will now be destroyed by police."
