How to make homemade pumpkin butter

I LOVE Fall and I love Pumpkin. I thought I would whip up some delicious Pumpkin Butter to help us enjoy the fall season. It was a good idea. A really good idea! And it is so easy to make.

This recipe literally takes minutes to throw into your slow cooker. As it cooks for a few hours you get to enjoy the amazing smell of it simmering. Your whole house will smell amazing...and when you show up to a gathering of friends, later in the day, they will want to know why you smell so good!

Slather the homemade Pumpkin Butter on your favorite toast or warm bread, muffins, etc. Or bottle it up and put these cute FREE Printable Pumpkin Butter Labels on the jars and gift them to your family and friends! Slow Cooker Pumpkin Butter

*printable recipe

Makes about 3 cups

  • 4 cups pumpkin puree

  • 1 cup raw honey or maple syrup

  • 1/2 cup apple juice or apple cider

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, optional

  • 2 teaspoons fresh lemon juice

  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon

  • 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg

  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger

  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves

  • 1/4 teaspoon ground allspice

  • pinch of sea salt


1) Add all of the ingredients to your slow cooker. Stir very well to combine.
2) Cook on low for approximately 4-6 hours, or until thick.
3) You may have to stir it several times throughout the cooking process so it doesn't burn.
4) Add it to your jars or other air-tight containers and allow to cool, then store in the refrigerator.
