Coach unveils its first major womenswear show for its 75th anniversary

Updated

Coach has stepped up its fashion game for the brand's 75th anniversary. Instead of the standard bags and shoes, the accessories legend ushered in ready-to-wear designs just in time for the company's big birthday.

The styles made have taken inspiration from the prairie, but by making cowboy leather vibrant and adding in timely accessories, Coach was able to design a collection that seemed completely urban. Showcased in New York City's iconic High Line, the line featured pleated dresses, bright blue and suede tuxedos, and colorblocked footwear. However, it was the dresses -- which featured clashing patchwork -- that stole the show.

Silhouettes played on the carefree nature of the great outdoors -- with loose trims dominating every look. Off-beat collars and moto vests pulled the design back into the modern scope.

The collection, if anything, displayed how eager the fashion house is to move into a new identity within the luxury market. With the help of the Spring/Summer 2016 designs playful and young aesthetic, Coach's big fashion risk of jumping into ready-wear may have really paid off.
