Sixty-two years ago today on September 12, 1953, John "Jack" Fitzgerald Kennedy and Jacqueline "Jackie" Lee Bouvier were married.

Just months prior to meeting Kennedy, Bouvier was engaged to Wall Street banker, John Husted. She began having doubts about the wedding and in March 1952, abruptly called off the engagement. Just a few fateful months later, Bouvier began dating Kennedy after meeting him at a dinner party.

After a year of courtship, "Jack" and "Jackie" were married on September 12, 1953, at St. Mary's Church in Newport, Rhode Island. The Catholic mass was attended by 750 guests and an additional 450 people joined the wedding reception.

Seven years later, the iconic duo would become the youngest presidential power couple in our nation's history.
