Behind the scenes with Marissa Webb and her Spring 2016 collection

The Marissa Webb Spring 2016 collection is flawless. But what made me love the collection even more was getting to know Marissa Webb and her vision behind why she does what she does.

"Take each day as it comes. Don't focus on next week or next month. Stay present, humble, work hard, know your vision and no matter what stay true to who you are." As I asked her how she stays inspired, and why she keeps creating the common thread was simple yet profound: No one has what you have. So be YOU. Remain authentic. Surround yourself with other people who are inspired, on point, and positive.

Marissa Webb practices what she is speaking. Her Spring 2016 collection is a blend of masculine meets feminine, hard meets soft and contrast. And creating from that place was creating from a place near to her heart.

As she was going through old family photos she came across a series of pictures of her grandmother and grandfather. He was a fighter pilot in the 1950s and proudly wore his crisp uniform. What stood out to Marissa about the images was the harsh masculine lines of her grandfather's uniform juxtaposed with her grandmother snuggled beside him in floral, flow-y and feminine dresses. So different, yet somehow it just fit.

This was her inspiration for her Spring 2016 collection that showed at Milk Studios today. Marissa's life is one that is fast-paced yet grounded. It was so inspiring to hear the vision behind why she does what she does.

Marissa says that creating is in her DNA: "It's like we're created to create, and I can't not do it."

Marissa ... We agree. Please keep creating. Please keep inspiring other women to keep the course. And by the way, the show was incredible!
