NICHOLAS K STUDIO opened NEW YORK FASHION WEEK: THE SHOWS this morning at 9:00AM with their Spring / Summer 2016 Presentation. Held at Skylight at Clarkson Square, Nicholas K designers Christopher Kunz and Nicholas Kunz kicked off #NYFW with their collection of minimalist, streaming silk clothing. Blouses, skirts, dresses, and hooded jackets were layered, wrapped, and draped across models wearing earthy eyeshadow and otherwise bare faces, slicked back hair, and wrap-around sunglasses. See FALL BEAUTY TRENDS: STRAIGHT FROM THE RUNWAY for more on these beauty looks. Metallic arm cuffs, flat sandals paired with bunched down knee socks, and knee-length rope necklaces completed the asymmetrical, often somewhere between translucent and sheer apparel.

I really enjoyed the show, including the nods to the deconstructed silhouettes, Tevas, and sheer windbreakers of the 90's, as well as the re-interpretation of head coverage that Indian, African, South American, Middle Eastern, Roman Catholic, and many more cultures employ. Finally the classic color palette of rusts, fatigue green, and dip-dyed whites, taupes, and indigos was earthy and fresh, as as far away as possible from anything drab. Take a look at the SHOP THE SHOW pieces I've pulled, including THIS DRESS ON SALE FOR $45, and this beautiful and REVERSIBLE CAMEL WRAP. Then browse away for a plethora of beautiful looks from the show.
