Italian football club A.S. Roma, of Serie A, have donated to an initiative to raise money and awareness for the refugee crisis.

"Football Cares" is designed for football clubs and fans to put their differences aside and unite in an effort to raise funds to stop the crisis. Roma has donated jerseys worn by three players to the new auction page.

Everything raised by the program and its designated auction web page will be divided equally among UNHCR, Save The Children, International Rescue Committee and the Red Cross: Four charities that are actively involved in helping refugees and are on the ground there.

"Football has the power to reach millions of people and by rallying behind 'Football Cares' we can change things. It doesn't matter whether donations are small," the club said in a statement.
