James Franco is going back to high school.

The actor posted on his Instagram page Friday night that he will be teaching an eight-part film course for high school students. In the post, he encouraged students to apply for the class, which will be held at Silicon Valley's Palo Alto High School.

Twenty-four high school students in grades 9-12 will learn to produce a film that will ultimately be shown at a film festival. Students must apply online by Sept. 10 with a 200-word essay stating why they would be a good fit for the workshop and a one-minute video (created on their cell phones) introducing themselves.

The online application hints at Franco being the teacher: "The teacher is a very well known director and actor supported by a team of professionals." Students will work in groups starting on Sept. 13 to produce the film.

Franco is no stranger to teaching film. He previously taught at NYU and most recently at USC.
