Watch: Man uses mop to save toddler dangling from window
When a young Chinese girl became trapped as she dangled from her family's fourth story apartment, her neighbor's quick and creative thinking led to his heroic action that saved the girl's life.
The young girl was playing in her family's apartment on Wednesday when she got her head stuck in the bars outside her window. The rest of her body dangled outside the Weifang City apartment.
The girl's neighbor, Wang Baocheng, saw the little girl hanging from the window and climbed out of his own window to help her. He grabbed his mop and extended it to place it under the little girl's body.
The neighbor was able to use the mop to keep the little girl's body steady until she was pulled back inside the apartment. A video of the entire incident has gone viral on social media.
The girl remained outside her window, supported by her neighbor's mop, for about 10 minutes until her parents returned home and pulled her inside. The little girl was unharmed. Wang told China Central Television:
"I saw the girl hanging from over there. Then I heard her calling for help and quickly ran over... I saw that the girl's head was stuck and it was holding her up. When I got upstairs I grabbed onto the window and used a mop to support her."
According to Wang, the child was home alone when the incident occurred and the door to her apartment was locked. An unidentified resident said of Wang:
"I think his brave and courageous actions are worthy of praise."
There are no reports of the parents are facing any charges.
