While we all know that being a teenager is hard enough, try to put yourself in the shoes of someone transitioning sexes.

For transgender teens across the U.S., life during the formative years of young adulthood can be challenging. That's why the folks at Mashable have set out to capture a series of profiles of transgender teens, to share their experiences, as well as dreams and aspirations for their future selves.

If nothing else, this is a way for readers to better understand what the transgender community faces, in order to be more accepting. While some interviews included the average reflective teen answer, like "stay positive," most responses were much deeper than this.

For 12-year-old Charlie, she just wants her dad to come around and accept her as who she is and who she'll always be. In her Mashable interview, she recalls in third grade, her father shaved her head, saying "God doesn't like what you're doing."
