Long lost paintings from 1893 World's Fair found in Chicago

CHICAGO (WGN) -- Long-lost paintings from the 1893 Chicago World's Fair have been found in a park district storage facility.

The artwork is three Japanese sliding door paintings. They were part of the Phoenix Pavilion which was given to the city as a gift to promote Japanese culture.

The paintings have been missing for several decades. Officials say they're still in decent condition and will be restored with help from the Art Institute.

It's not known when or where the paintings will be displayed once that process is complete.
