7 Ways To Know If You're A Hardcore Star Wars Fan

When Layla Murphy discovered her father's old "Star Wars" toys as a young child, she was completely obsessed. But, to her dismay, this little 8-year-old fan from Norfolk, VA began getting bullied for her love of "Star Wars," with other kids saying it was "only for boys."

Murphy's mother told CNN, "she started asking not to wear her shirts or R2-D2 jacket...she asked if she was turning into a boy."

Lucky for Layla, she caught the attention of the 501st Legion, an international volunteer organization of "Star Wars" fans. The 501st Legion dress up as "Star Wars" villains to attend charity events. One of the legion's members got word of Murphy's troubles, and wanted to help out.

The 501st Legion gifted Layla her very own Stormtrooper costume, and a chance to meet one of her idols. Famous "Star Wars" fanatic and performer "Weird Al Yankovic" let Layla know it was okay to like "Star Wars"...in fact, it's pretty great.

With new found confidence, Layla now wears her costume proudly. The 501st Legion posted to their Facebook page, saying:

%shareLinks-quote="Her favorite part of wearing the costume? She loves when people say, 'What a cute little boy!' only to discover that there's a girl under that helmet!" type="quote" author="501st Legion" authordesc="Facebook Page" isquoteoftheday="false"%
