4 reasons we love Melissa McCarthy for her 45th birthday

The Many Fabulous Faces of Melissa McCarthy

Happy Birthday, Melissa McCarthy!

Emmy award winning superstar Melissa McCarthy turns 45 today! With a long resume filled with some of the best comedic movies from the past ten years, McCarthy has managed to stay on top of her game and continues to get funnier as time progresses...if that's even possible.

We all know about her amazing film career, so we decided present you with four other reasons we love her (besides the obvious like "Bridesmaids," and the upcoming "Ghostbusters," movie).

1.) She was on "Gilmore Girls."
Many of us were presented with Melissa McCarthy in the form of Sookie St. James, Lorelei Gilmore's best friend in "Gilmore Girls." She was head chef at the Independence Inn, along with the Dragon Fly Inn, as well as a shoulder for Lorelei to laugh and cry on.

2.) She's an SNL superstar.
Whether it was hosting three times to raves reviews (did you see the "Hidden Valley Ranch" sketch?) or nailing her impression of Chris Farley on the SNL 40th Reunion, she always manages to crush her performances.

3.) She stands up for herself -- and women!
A few months ago McCarthy revealed to Entertainment Weekly about the time she confronted a critic who made awful comments about her looks in her film "Tammy." Are you the one who wrote I was only a good actor when I looked more attractive and that my husband should never be allowed to direct me because he allowed me to look so homely?" Along the same lines, she recently uploaded a photo of the women behind the "Ghostbusters" film to promote girl power!

4.) She won't stand for body-shamming
In an interview with "More" magazine back in June, she talked about how women come in all sizes. "People don't stop at size 12. I feel like there's a big thing missing where you can't dress to your mood above a certain number." Because of this, she decided to create a fashion line for women of all sizes.
