Sparkling Substance In Huggies Baby Wipes Leads To Social Media Furor

Parents are growing more and more concerned over Huggies baby wipes as they claim that the wipes they've been using on their children have glass-like shards on them.

Huggies Cucumber wipes appear to be covered with small glass-like particles. Parents are claiming that these particles are giving their children skin irritations. California mother Melissa Estrall posted a video about the wipes. In the video, she says:

"It's kind of hard to see in the angle I'm in, but if you see all that stuff shining, those are all glass shards."

Parents are following Estrall's lead and sharing pictures on Instagram of the worrisome Cucumber wipes that appear to contain shards of glass.

However, some parents are calling others out for jumping to conclusions. They claim that this report, displayed via Instagram, explains why the wipes appear so shiny:

Thus, the shiny substance within the Huggies wipes may not be glass at all, but rather sodium methylparaben. On Thursday, Huggies released a Facebook statement. They wrote:

"As some of you may have heard, a concern about our wipes was raised recently on Facebook. We take any concerns about our products very seriously and we are working directly with this parent to learn more about what happened and how we can help. Nothing is more important than the safety of the little ones who use our products."

The released another statement on Friday:

"Some of you have commented about the shiny particles seen in our wipes. While this condition is not normal, it does happen infrequently during the manufacturing process. When combined, the fibres in our wipes have on occasion created shiny particles, similar to what was found by this parent."

Thousands of parents have responded to the posts, some believing that the Huggies do indeed contain glass and others defending the brand.
