218 babies were named Anakin in 2014; 218 teens predicted to change their name from Anakin in 2032
Looking at the list of the top 1,000 baby names in the U.S. in 2014, EWnoticed a disturbance in the Force: 218 babies were named Anakin. That's the same as Truman, which is surprising, because even though that movie was pretty solid, Jim Carrey's midi-chlorians levels were definitely on the scale. Interestingly, Anakin didn't crack the top 1,000 in the last three years, which once again proves J.J. Abrams is a viral-marketing genius. As the list only provides the top 1,000, there's no word if someone named their kid Jar Jar, but with 218 Anakins, you know there must be a couple. Meesa thinks they're in for a tough life.
