NEW YORK, N.Y. (WPIX) -- A new American Girl doll is making her debut. Her name? MaryEllen Larkin, who's the first American Girl doll from the 1950s.

She's one of the most-requested characters that the company has seen since they were founded.

MaryEllen comes wearing a teal, pink, and white-striped dress, a matching teal bow in her hair, white gloves, and even a pearl bracelet.

With the introduction of MaryEllen, American Girl is hoping to unite females of all ages and generations. Little girls who are lucky enough to have their very own MaryEllen doll can now talk to their grandmothers about what it was like growing up in the 1950s -- just like MaryEllen.
