Calvin Harris and Zayn Malik Get Into Twitter War

Zayn Malik and Calvin Harris engaged in a contentious Twitter exchange on Monday afternoon (Aug. 17) in which the former One Direction member referred to the EDM superstar as a "dickhead." Yikes! What is this world of hasty social media reactions coming to?

The looniness began when Harris responded to one of Malik's retweets, of a post from the account @FemaleTexts in which Taylor Swift's comments on Spotify's treatment of artist royalties is compared to Miley Cyrus' comments shrugging off album sales ("I've made my money," Cyrus is quoted). Harris — Swift's boyfriend — objected to the implication that Swift is greedy when it comes to her sales.

"You've made your money? Cool...fuck the 99% of musicians who depend on these services to survive right? Yeah fuck em," Harris posted, tagging @FemaleTexts as well as Malik, because of his retweet/endorsement. He continued, "If u don't get what it means when a successful artist uses their celebrity to benefit every other musician and songwriter in the industry... ...stay out my fuckin mentions pls."

Malik apparently saw this diatribe and responded directly to Harris. "@CalvinHarris ha you just made an absolute fool of yourself mate," he posted. "you clearly didn't understand what I just said either ... so i suggest you calm your knickers before them dentures fall out." (Harris is 31, Malik 22).@CalvinHarris you clearly didn't understand what I just said either

Harris then saw Malik's rant and responded, "all good, it was the quote not you personally mate." Sensing that Malik was still not taking kindly to him, Harris finished with a "lol" and, "@zaynmalik best of luck, genuinely. You've got a great voice."

First, Nicki and Taylor. Then, Meek and Drake. Now Calvin and Zayn?! Who's next, Katy and Ed? Bruno and Lorde? Lana and Fetty? Perish the thought!
