Iowa City, Iowa (WQAD) -- After an Iowa City man was arrested for driving under the influence of marijuana, he asked the officer to take a selfie with him. The officer "happily obliged," according to the offense report.

It was just after 2 a.m. on Thursday, August 6, 2015 when 20-year-old Gilbert Horace Phelphs was pulled over for speeding and for having an obstructed registration sticker, according to the report.

In the police report, the Iowa City Police Department officer said he could smell "an odor of ingested alcohol" coming from the 2000 Toyota Camry Phelphs was driving. The report also indicated that Phelphs admitted to smoking pot and did not pass the field sobriety tests.

And there was one more unusual piece of information included in the report.

"During the testing process the defendant requested to take a SnapChat selfie with me to which I happily obliged," the officer wrote.

Phelphs apparently captioned his picture with three emojis to illustrate the situation: a police car, a passenger car, and a tow truck.

Jail records showed that Phelphs was booked into the Johnson County Jail just after 4 a.m. Thursday and was released at 11:20 a.m.
