Tom Brady Blasts Peyton Manning in Private Emails

When you think of scandals, the last person you think of is Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning. The man has never even skirted close enough the line between fair and foul to have his reputation questioned for a single second, but that didn't stop him from becoming involved in the Tom Brady Deflategate scandal.

When Tom Brady's emails were released as part of the investigation into Deflategate, it was revealed that he was throwing shade at Peyton behind his back. The email in question involved Brady saying that he has more years left in his career than Manning does, which isn't really a false assertion but was something that was seen as trash talk.

According to ESPN Boston, Brady has swallowed his pride at least partially andapologized to Manning for throwing shade at him in the email.

There was nothing inherently wrong with what Brady said — in fact it's something we're all thinking. To be honest, Brady gave Manning 2-3 years more than most of us think he as left. Many believe that the 2015 season could be the final ride for Peyton and Brady giving him an addition 1-2 years on that is generous at best. It's backhanded smack talk, if anything, and it's not anything that deserves an apology.

Still, the fact that Brady took the high road and apologized is something you can't complain about. He may have been right in his assessment of the two career paths and how much time is left in each of them, but there's a respect between the two men that can't be crossed in this way. It's been made clear through the years that they're bitter rivals and aren't going to be attending one another's barbecues in the summers to come, but there's still a level of respect that Brady is adhering to and it's nice to see.

This is also about as close as we're going to get to hearing an apology during the Deflategate scandal from Brady — so we should take it where we can get it.
