Ronald Boisevert had been missing his 13-year-old Pomeranian named Fox since last Friday.

The next day, Boisevert's neighbor found the dog's body on the back porch of the owner's condo. As if that isn't eerie enough, there was a handwritten note taped to Fox's body that read: "WE BEAT IT 2 Death lol! (smiley face) HAHAHA!"

This undated photo provided by Ronald Boisvert shows his dog Fox, who went missing from his south Florida condominium on Friday, Aug. 7, 2015. The dog's owners found its body outside their home the next day, and a veterinarian confirmed that it had been beaten to death. The Pembroke Pines Police Department is investigating the incident. Oddly, the dog didn't have any visible injuries, but once Fox was taken to Saint Francis Animal Hospital for an exam, Dr. Ron Ridge, the veterinarian, found that the dog had multiple fractures. The exam also showed that Fox had 10 broken ribs, missing teeth, and a broken back.

The vet came to the conclusion that the dog was likely kicked to death. The police say that this appears to have been an isolated incident, and there is no evidence to believe that other animals in the area are in danger.
