Shy sea anemone hates hugs
The sea anemone is a carnivore named after a flower who ambushes its fishy victims with beautiful-but-deadly tentacles that are packed with poison.
And, apparently, it's not one much for hugs.
Video released by the E/V Nautilus team while on an exploration dive near California shows a small octopus scooting across the sand.
The octopus comes upon a starfish before trying to cozy up next to a sea anemone who isn't having it and swiftly shuts itself off to its would-be buddy.
The E/V Nautilus is an oceanographic exploration vessel which provides video, sensor and audio data to the world at large.
