Target Does Away With Gender Labels For Some Kids Sections

The company is doing away with its gender labels in some kid's aisles by going neutral. Shoppers will no longer see girl toys or boy toys and girl or boy bedding sets.

Advocates say kids should be able to pick whatever toys and sheets they want. Target announced the gender labels will still remain in the clothing section because of sizing and fit differences.

Earlier this year an Ohio mom called out Target for an aisle labeled 'Building Set' and 'Girls' Building Sets.' The woman tweeted a photo to the company and said, 'Don't do this.' Others quickly agreed with her sentiment. We can definitely applaud Target for this recent move -- but we also want to see its designers step up.

Several clothing items have been called out for being sexist.

Like these t-shirts for wives that label them as a 'trophy' and 'Mrs.' -- as if a ring didn't already make that last one clear.

And this Star Wars superlative shirt that voted Princes Leia 'most likely to be rescued.' Let's not forget she was an important politician who gave orders without being questioned and was afraid to go after what she wanted.
