Happy birthday, Whitney Houston.

Today we celebrate the life of one of the greatest singers of all time. Whitney Houston is one of pop music's best-selling music artists of all-time. She has sold an estimated 170–200 million records worldwide and released six studio albums, one holiday album and three movie soundtrack albums, all of which were certified diamond, multi-platinum, platinum or gold.

Houston wasn't just a talented singer, she was also an actress, producer, and model. In 1992, she took on her first acting role as the star of the feature film "The Bodyguard." In 1994, the film's original soundtrack won a Grammy Award for Album of the Year. To date, the album is the No.4 best-selling album of all-time. Its lead single "I Will Always Love You" became the best-selling single by a woman in music history. Houston continued working in film, taking roles and contributing to the accompanying soundtracks, including "Waiting to Exhale" in 1995 and "The Preacher's Wife" in 1996.

Houston died at the age of 48 on February 11, 2012. She was found in her guest room at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California. An official coroner's report proved Houston accidentally drowned in the bathtub, with heart disease and cocaine use listed as contributing factors.
