Birthdays can be exciting, but when the day's 24 hours are up, they must come to an end -- or do they?

Sven Hagemeier of Germany stretched his to a whopping 46 hours and was recently awarded the Guinness World Records title for 'longest birthday' ever.

He spent most of it on a plane, as prolonging the duration of his special day required a lot of time zone hopping.

According to the Guinness World Records, "Over the course of 46 hours, Sven flew from Auckland (New Zealand), to Brisbane (Australia) and then to Honolulu (Hawaii)..."

Sightseeing opportunities were scarce, but a cab driver in New Zealand did make it possible for Sven to see many noteworthy sites in under an hour-and-a-half.

His final destination was Hawaii, and Sven said that getting off the plane in Honolulu was the highlight of his very long day, as he did so knowing that he'd made it to the record books.

While the endeavor was pretty exciting, he plans to spend his next birthday at home.
