Today, we celebrate the life of the lovely, charismatic actress who stole the heart of America through her iconic role in "I Love Lucy." Ball, who was born in 1911, played Lucy alongside her husband Ricky, played by Desi Arnaz.

In 1962, Ball became the first woman to run a major television studio which produced many successful TV shows, including the infamous Mission: Impossible and Star Trek. Even after, she continued making film and television appearances for much of her life.

Ball was nominated 13 times for an Emmy Award and won 4 of them. In 1977, she was one of the first recipients of the Women in Film Crystal Award. In 1979, she was the recipient of the Golden Globe Cecil B. DeMille Award.
