Chris Farley was a comedy icon that was lost way too soon.

A legend on "Saturday Night Live," as well as hit movies like "Tommy Boy" and "Black Sheep," Farley was always a guaranteed comic hit. However, there is one character that could have been the most iconic role for the late actor: the hilarious green ogre, Shrek.

Farley, who was not only attached to the DreamWorks flick, recorded 80 to 90 percent of the voice for the character that was actually written specifically for him before he died of an overdose in 1997. The role eventually went to SNL castmate, Mike Myers.

In a recently leaked video that appeared on Reddit, you can see illustrations and hear the audio between Farley playing Shrek, and co-star Eddie Murphy playing Donkey. Take a listen below.

It's safe to say Myers nailed the character, but we could only imagine what Farley could have done, given his amazing comedic chops.
