A male and a female have been killed and three others have been transported to different hospitals after a "sporadic" shooting at Drake's OVO Festival after-party at Muzik in Toronto.

The nightclub is on the grounds of the Canadian National Exhibtion (CNE), across the bridge from the Molson Amphitheatre where OVO ended its two-night run at 11 p.m. Sunday night.

Toronto Police Superintendent Frank Bergen, of 14 Division, told media that "this is a sporadic shooting that did occur just before 3:30 this morning at 15 Saskatchewan. It's the Muzik Nightclub. A well-run event with lots of police officers in and around the area, culminating on a large evening event that occurred over at the OVO Festival."

He said one victim died on the scene and the other was pronounced dead at the hospital. He said they were in their 20s and 30s but did not given further specifics.

Police believe there are other victims and are asking for anyone needing assistance or that have new information to come forward, by calling Homicide, Crime Stoppers or 14 Div. at 416 808 1400.

Homicide is carrying on the investigation with the assistance of others within the police service.

Reminded of a similar event that occurred at the very same club following OVO 2014 and Superintendent Bergen said, "We're satisfied at this point that the organization involved was doing their best and this did occur at 3:30 this morning as things were shutting down for the evening."

The party, which was open to the public, was advertised as "The official OVO fest after-party, hosted by Drake with music by Charlie B. Doors opened at 10 p.m.

"What occurred originally in the bar area had spilled out into the streets so south and north of this area we do have three separate crimes scenes," he said.

"At this point we do know for certain that one or two [shootings] were in the nightclub and we believe the others were outside of that area. This is all unfolding now and we're doing our investigation."

Further information will follow, he said, when asked about a YouTube video supposedly showing an arrest.
