Miss Piggy and Kermit split after almost 4 decades together
Just as we thought the plethora of celebrity couple breakups was finally coming to a standstill, the most devastating split of all hit us right where it hurts. Kermit the frog and Miss Piggy have announced that the respective parties of the beloved Muppet couple are going their separate ways.
Kermit posted a joint Twitter statement from the former couple announcing their heavy-hearted decision to end the relationship:
The two assured fans that they will maintain an amicable professional relationship, but that they will be seeing other people and will no longer be a part of each other's personal lives. Miss Piggy re-affirmed the couple's mutual breakup via Facebook:
It seems Kermit has already begun the rebound process as he announced at the 2015 TCA summer press tour that he is in a relationship with a pig named Denise who works in ABC marketing. It seems a bit soon for Kermit to be starting a new relationship, but everyone heals differently. We just hope Kermit isn't flaunting his new bae around Miss Piggy on the set of her late-night show.
The two are both ready to take the next steps in their lives and put this breakup behind them. They look forward to the premiere of "The Muppets" on September 22 on ABC.
