Animated movie about PEZ candy in the works
It was announced today that an animated movie on PEZ candy is in the works.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Envision Media Arts has officially signed a deal with PEZ to make an animated film based on the iconic candy brand. Cameron Fay, who wrote "Brother in Laws" and "Sitting Babies," has been hired to write the screenplay.
Originally invented in 1927, PEZ, adds to a growing list of pop culture brands from the past that have now been created into films, following LEGO, Transformers, G.I. Joe, and the Ouija board. Sony Pictures Animation is also working on a Barbie movie, as well as an Emoji movie.
Some fans have been stricken by a sense of nostalgia, while others wonder if Hollywood has finally run out of ideas. What do you think?
