Conflicting Reports On Cecil The Lion's Brother, Jericho

It's been less than a week since Cecil the lion was killed in a Zimbabwean national park and now it's being reported his brother, Jericho, was also illegally killed Saturday by a hunter.

A Zimbabwe Conservation Task Force official told USA Today, "I'm very disappointed, I'm heartbroken. It's just too much."

But a researcher monitoring the park's lions told Reuters the lion is alive and well, according to data from a GPS tag.

Just Friday, the Oxford University Wildlife Conservation Unit reported Jericho was protecting his brother's cubs from rival male lions looking to take control of the pride.

Since Cecil was killed, Zimbabwe officials have asked America to turn over Walter James Palmer, who has admitted to killing the beloved lion.

Zimbabwean officials have reportedly suspended hunting lions, leopards and elephants in an area near where Cecil was killed. The illegal killing of a lion in Zimbabwe can cost up to $20,000 with a sentence of up to 10 years behind bars.
