Dogs prepare for surfing competition in San Diego

The tenth annual Unleashed by Petco surf dog competition is set to take place at Imperial Beach in San Diego, Calif. this weekend, and the four-legged competitors were out practicing early Friday.

The competition -- which has over 50 canine competitors -- sees dogs of all breeds and sizes hang 10 in the ocean with all of the style and finesse of the most gnarly pro surfers out there.

The contestants are scored by a panel of judges -- which, for the second year in a row, includes pro surfer Taylor Knox -- on three different criteria: length of time spent on the board, size of the wave, and perceived comfort while on the board.
