Caitlyn Jenner's 1984 Olympic torch sold at auction for thousands more than originally anticipated.

When Heritage Auctions in Chicago put the torch on its auction block, they were hoping to bring in $20,000, but on Thursday the piece of sport memorabilia was sold for $24,000.

"She carried it through Lake Tahoe on behalf of Caesar's Entertainment," said Heritage Auction's Director of Sports Chris Ivy . "Our consigner was working with Caesar's Tahoe in organizing the Olympic relay through the town. There was no better athlete than Jenner at the time to work with Caesar's to carry this torch through Lake Tahoe."

The Olympic torch is one of the first pieces of Jenner memorabilia to go to auction since the 1976 Gold Medal Olympian started publicly using the name Caitlyn.

In addition to the torch, Heritage Auctions sold a Brooklyn Atlantics baseball card from the 1860s for nearly $179,000.
