Don't you wish your whole life could be a vacation? For Maartje Smit, it is! The Dutch traveler began an extended vacation over three years ago. She doesn't plan to pack up and head home anytime soon.

Smit has visited countless countries and posts dozens of breathless photos to Facebook to show for it. Smit saved up for years before embarking on her travels, which has enabled her to afford the journey. In order to pay for lodging, she occasionally works odd jobs. However, she mostly just couch surfs for free. She meets interesting people that way and couldn't be happier with her lifestyle.

Smit, however, doesn't quite see it that way. She doesn't understand why more people don't just follow their temptations and ditch their day jobs to experience a whole different side of life. She said:

"I'm sure that everyone who is working away in an office, enviously looking at my Facebook albums could live the exact same life. I don't understand why more people don't do what I do."

While Smit hopes to continue traveling for perhaps even the rest of her life, she's more than happy remaining unaware of what the future holds. Life is a journey, and she loves every surprise it brings her way.
