Rihanna reportedly wanted to do free concert for Baltimore protestors
Rihanna -- whose activism surrounding the #BlackLivesMatter movement has mostly been limited to social media -- apparently wanted to join the Baltimore protests in person and perform for fellow protestors, according to a series of police emails released to The Baltimore Sun.
The internal emails, which were uncovered amid 7,000 other riot-related emails from the Baltimore Police Department, suggest that the singer's reps reached out for "extra police security," assuring the department that "she will be arriving by plane and in an effort to divert press/media she will be traveling to the city by train (or by car if necessary)."
A May 1 report from on-duty officers also alludes to a "Possible Rihanna Concert at Penn & North, no time given. Police are claiming they have no permit so it will not be allowed."
Billboard has reached out to representatives for Rihanna for comment.
