Nike's newest product will literally make you cool

Nike is always on the cutting edge when it comes to keeping athletes comfortable and performing at the highest level. As technology becomes more and more impressive as the years go on, the company hasn't failed to impress with new innovations. And it doesn't seem to be letting up any time soon.

Monday, Nike revealed the Ice Hat, which is almost exactly what it sounds like. Designed in collaboration with Olympic champion Ashton Eaton, it's a hood for athletes to wear on the sidelines while recovering from long periods of heat and/or exhaustion.

The Ice Hat is still a prototype right now, but according to NIke in a press release, the mask sports "Inner layers designed to retain cool water without leaking. At the same time, a structural frame around the eyes keeps cold portions in place and close to the face while maintaining a secure fit."

As for when this thing can actually hit the public? Don't count on any time before 2017.

"This is innovation in the making," the release reads. "We continue to work with Ashton on each iteration of the hood, and we plan to perfect this idea as we approach the next 18 months of elite track and field competition."
