First date ends with impromptu helicopter ride and rescue
A man and woman chose adventure and excitement for their first date but got a lot more than they bargained for.
The unidentified couple—described only as "young"—chose to hike the trails of Angeles National Forest in Southern California on Friday afternoon. Equipped with a map and phone, the confusing trails quickly got the best of them and they soon found themselves lost.
The lost hikers wisely didn't attempt to search for a way back to civilization—and standard date fare—instead they searched for cell phone reception and made a call to the Altadena Sheriff's Station for help.
They were found on a cliff in Lowe Canyon and airlifted to safety via a hoist rescue operation conducted by Special Enforcement Bureau paramedics and Altadena Mountain Rescue sheriff deputies, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff Department's Facebook page.
There was no indication either hiker was injured.
