2 sharks spotted off New York beaches stir alarm
Lifeguards and beachgoers spotted two sharks swimming close to the shore in Long Island on Thursday.
Thousands of swimmers were ordered out of the water while police helicopters patrolled the surface and saw two 6-foot-long sharks at 15 feet from the beach.
The beachgoers were allowed in the water only three hours after the initial alarm.
