This summer has eerily seemed like "Jaws" coming to life. That's because there have been numerous shark attacks happening all over the world -- just this weekend pro surfer Mick Fanning had a close call with the giant animal during a competition.

The Carolinas are no stranger to the mayhem; this season alone North Carolina set a record-breaking year of shark attacks for the state's coastal waters.

So it's safe to say swimmers are a little on edge when they head into the ocean. To that end, it's no surprise that one couple decided to take it upon themselves to create their own makeshift shark cage.

This video, which is going viral, shows the pair entering the waters in the Outer Banks with their DIY project. It might not protect them against the real thing, but it is a pretty hysterical sight.
