500-pound black bear naps in a man's backyard after eating tons of dog food

Updated

Remember the story of "Goldilocks and the Three Bears?" The human trespasses on the bears' home, eats their food after deeming it too hot or too cold, and sleeps in the wee bears bed? Well, it seems the roles have reversed at this Lake Mary, Florida home.

A 500-pound black bear was recently spotted sleeping in the backyard of a Lake Mary house. The bear reportedly stole a large, 20-pound bag of dog food from the open garage. It seems the bear found the food to be "just right," because he quickly dozed off in the backyard after the satisfying feast.

Bob Cross, owner of animal trapping company Critter Capture, spotted the dozing bear and snapped some pictures that have since gone viral. His next door neighbor called him about the bear and encouraged him to check out the scene. He told Fox 5 Atlanta:

"It was just relaxing, just chilling, taking it all in, kinda looked like he was on the couch watching football."

Cross said that after a peaceful hour-long nap, the lazy bear finally woke up and waddled away. We're not sure if bears typically enjoy dog food but hey, beggars can't be choosers. It seems a full bear is a happy bear.

Perhaps this is the same bear spotted in the backyard:
