Many golfers believe that the 17th hole at St. Andrews is one of the toughest holes in all of golf. It's a Par 4 that features a barren wasteland of nothingness to hit over to get close to the hole. In addition to that, there's a narrow window to sneak through that golfers can't allow themselves to misjudge or they might hit a house — literally.

Eddie Peppered found that out the hard way when he let his nerves get the better of him on the 17th hole. Tied for the lead with Dustin Johnson at the time, Pepperell shanked his tee shot way to the right, bouncing it off part of a clubhouse located near the fairway.

It wasn't just a shot that barely went out of bounds — it went way out of bounds.

Pepperell is tied for the lead at 10-under with Dustin Johnson but it's shots like this that are going to change that. It wasn't a fatal mistake, but there's no excuse to go out of bounds this late into a run that has you at the top of the leaderboard.
