METAIRIE, LA – What does a baby great horned owl do with its first taste of freedom? Our NOLA Pet Doc, Dr. Gregory Rich has to do some coaxing to get the owl to go where it belongs.

The Wildlife Hospital of Baton Rouge, part of the LSU Veterinary School, trained the owl to learn to hunt for food. Without that ability, the owl would not have been able to return to the wild.

The Wildlife Hospital treats an average of 1500 injured wild animals each year, and relies on donations. For more information, click here.
