NORWALK, Conn. (WTIC) -- A 46-year-old mom from Stamford, Connecticut is facing criminal charges after police said she left her baby alone in her car twice in the same day.

Norwalk police responded to call from a parking garage on Connecticut Ave in Norwalk Wednesday. A woman called police from the lot when she heard a baby crying and saw it alone in a Toyota SUV. Police saved the baby just as it's mother, Hiroko Kurihara, was getting back to the car. She was arrested at the scene.

Kurihara was charged with two counts of risk of injury to a minor and two counts of unattended child left in a car. She was held on $10,000 bond.

The baby is now with its father after a hospital evaluation.

She is scheduled to appear in Norwalk Superior Court on July 24.
