Even massive fires burning around Saskatchewan couldn't distract from an animal that needed rescuing.

When a SaskPower worker spotted a frightened cat stuck atop an electrical pole, he put on the appropriate gear and gradually made his way up.

A video can be seen of him inching closer to the cat, grabbing it with both hands, shifting it into one arm, and using the other arm to slowly come back down.

According to a SaskPower spokesman, "One of our crews who are standing by in La Ronge to deal with fires just happened to come across the cat, and felt it was the right thing to do."

As of Friday, the town had 56 reported fires with more than 90,000 hectares of land burning around it.
