Would you trust putting your kids in an Uber ride by themselves?

This new startup is making sure you feel safe in doing so.

While you would normally not feel comfortable with putting your kids on a cab ride of any kind without adult supervision, HopSkipDrive is aiming to bring a safe service that does just that.

The startup just received $3.9 million in funding to develop the company.

They operate much like Uber, by letting you schedule a pick-up time for your kids with trusted drivers that will take them around when you are too busy to do it yourself.

Would you trust it?

According to TechCrunch, this is how it works:

"Parents schedule a ride with a 'CareDriver' and are sent a short bio for that driver, a picture, and are required to enter in a code word for the ride. The parent then relays that information to the child, and then to the school or daycare organization from which the kid is getting picked up. That way, little Tommy or Patty knows how to identify their 'CareDriver' through both the photo and the code word. Parents can track the ride in real time through the app and have multiple methods of contacting the driver at any time."

At the moment the platform is operational in the whole Los Angeles area and it has already completed thousands of rides.

Will Uber try to bring this service too? Here are some photo facts on the competitor:
