The most stunning gowns from Haute Couture Week fall 2015

Updated

Haute Couture Week may have just wrapped in Paris, but as always, it leaves a lasting impression on our hearts (and the thousands of dollars we don't have burning a hole in our wallets!). The gowns that go down the couture runways are elaborate and elegant, but there's so much more that goes into their creation than your typical ready-to-wear piece.

It can take a designer several years and attempts to even be invited to membership status, earning the right to call themselves a Haute Couture house. A term that's protected by law in France, it's not an easy name to come by. For designers to be considered, it's required that each item in the collection must be hand sewn, they must have a working design house in Paris where they create custom items for clients, and they must present collections of at least 50 items each January and July.

Bolstered by the difficulty with which they acquire this status, it's no surprise that those who have done so never let us down. The collections of Elie Saab, Valentino, Giambattista Valli and Christian Dior take our breath away every six months.

We scoured the collections and have chosen our absolute favorites -- the most beautiful couture gowns of fall 2015. Click through above to see them all, and watch the video below for more from Paris.
