Escaped orangutan puts zoo on temporary lockdown
A clever orangutan in Australia had a similar idea to these guys above. Menyaru, the 11-year-old daredevil, escaped from a hole in the enclosure's roof at the Melbourne Zoo.
The escapee, who goes by the nickname Malu, was spotted by a zoo-goer outside of his cage. The zoo was put on temporary lockdown to ensure the safety of the public while zoo personnel brought Malu back to safety.
The Melbourne Zoo tweeted a photo of Malu, assuring his safe return to the enclosure:
Orangutans seem to be a particularly brave species, with a number of escapees in noted history. Some of the most daring escapes have been canonized in Time Magazine's Top 11 Zoo Escapes list.
Call them what you want, but one thing's for sure. Orangutans are pretty adorable!
