This woman had an awesome response to strangers body-shaming her boyfriend

Updated

When Ashley Stevens' friend posted a photo to Reddit of Stevens with her boyfriend, Christopher Reed, the happy couple woke up to thousands of mean, insulting comments about Reed's appearance.

Stevens and Reed, both 21, were outraged by the comments complete strangers were posting on the photo. Stevens told Today.com:

"People were asking if he has Down syndrome and said that he's too fat to be my boyfriend. That's just shallow."

Rather than putting up with the haters, Stevens took to Facebook in support of her kind and loving boyfriend. Her comment reads:

"It surprises me how many people are so quick to judge when they don't even know you. He may not have rock hard abs like the world tells girls to want in a guy, but really, why does that even matter when you are trying to really find someone you want to spend the rest of your life with? He is so thoughtful and patient, he always shows me how he loves me in little ways, he is my best friend. I love him for who he is and he loves me for who I am."

You tell 'em, Stevens! This happy couple's love is strong enough to defeat the nasty Reddit trolls. Besides, who even wants a boyfriend with "rock hard abs?" That is so not comfortable for cuddling.

Stevens asserted to the social media-sphere that while haters are going to hate, she and her boyfriend plan to take a note from Taylor Swift and shake it off. She wrote:

"We know the truth and we will block out the haters. Enjoy our picture though."

Boom! Talk about coming out on top. Stevens and Reed, who met at Columbus State University over two years ago, have been able to laugh off the insulting comments rather than take them to heart. Reed told Today.com:

%shareLinks-quote="I don't have time to worry about what other people say because I know who I am and it doesn't bother me. After a while, it just got funny and we kind of shrugged it off." type="quote" author="Christopher Reed" authordesc="" isquoteoftheday=%

Stevens appreciates Reed's good humor and willingness to block out negative energy. She told Today.com:

%shareLinks-quote="Everyone looks for a Channing Tatum, but that's not really what I'm looking for. I don't want someone who is shallow but has abs. I want someone who is sweet, funny and my best friend." type="quote" author="Ashley Stevens" authordesc="" isquoteoftheday=%

The lovebirds each support and appreciate the other in a way that those Reddit haters will probably never have the good fortune to understand. The couple proves that once again, love wins.
